Myotherapy
Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, which may cause muscular dysfunction and pain thus affecting movement and mobility. Myotherapists utilise a range of treatment techniques to manage Pain, restore moment quality and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia).
Myotherapy fills the gap between Remedial Massage and Private practice Physiotherapy. They have an expanded scope of practice to include corrective exercise/rehab, nutritional concepts, pathophysiology, movement education and advanced techniques such as joint mobilisation, dry needling and TENS, Myotherapists are critical thinkers and operate in an evidence informed way, using manual therapy, exercise and pain science to tailor their treatment approach to the individual. Its not possible to have 'Myotherapy' as a treatment, rather it is a level of education that a Myotherapist has. |
